Parents as Teachers

Help Me Grow Brighter Futures, Early Head Start (EHS)

If you came to us because you would like some help parenting your current children under the age of three, you may have a home visitor using the Parents as Teachers materials in your Early Head Start Home Base Program or our Help Me Grow Home Visiting program. Your home visitor will focus on helping you learn your role as your child’s first and best teacher. Your home visits are focused on your child’s development and activities that you can do to help your child’s development.

The goals are to increase your knowledge of early child development, improve parenting practices, and early detection of child developmental delays. If you have completed the Nurse-Family Partnership program, you can continue with Help Me Grow Brighter Futures with Parents as Teachers between your child’s second and third birthday.

Help Me Grow Brighter Futures, Healthy Families America (HFA)

HFA is a home visiting program which is funded by Help Me Grow and serves low income first time mothers and families with children under the age of 3. The HFA home visitors focus on strengthening the parent child relationship and optimizing child growth and development. Dehvelopmental screenings and parent education are a large component of home visiting. Home visitors work with families toward changes in the areas of: home safety, social connectedness, parenting skills and knowledge, issues of mental health and substance use, financial stability, and family cohesion.
