Our Purpose
An entirely youth-run non-profit organization based in Sacramento County, Brighter Futures advocates for youth equity, and aims to fight America’s racial and economic disparities in education. We strive to better the circumstances of people coming from marginalized backgrounds, notably youth, to have a Brighter Future.
A Message From our Founder
My name is Ambareesh Lankipalli, and I am a 12th-grade student here in the Sacramento County. I grew up in the community I serve. For a community that has given so much to me, especially in terms of education, I want to reciprocate that by making an impact on lives of children that do not have the same opportunities. I founded this non-profit little over a year ago in May of 2023. Brighter Futures is a youth-run 501(c)(3) organization that strives for youth equity and aims to solve America’s racial & economic disparities in education. The reason as to why I was inspired to start my organization, goes back to my annual trip to India with my family. This time on the trip, I was able to visit many villages and get a good feel for what the education system is like there.
Many children who live in rural areas are not aware of opportunities to achieve goals they might have, especially in education. They do not have enough books, enough teachers, and enough people who encourage them to accomplish their goals. The goal for education in most rural areas is just to get by, and make a living. Although, I could not make that big of a difference in India at the time, when I came back to America I researched about the education system here, and found out it is similar in many ways, especially for children coming from marginalized backgrounds. Brighter Futures strives to resolve these inequalities, and while initially starting the organization and getting it running was tough, the team that we have right now is steering this organization, and the communities we benefit into a brighter future.
